AZTEC Employment Services

The Employment Services Program provides varying levels of training and work in sheltered and community work sites, and includes job placement and competitive employment opportunities as needed. AZTEC works closely with local businesses to provide individual and group work site opportunities for individuals. Subcontract work, provided by local industries and businesses, assists in the development of appropriate work habits, thereby increasing employment potential and providing wages to individuals.

Transitional and educational services and supports are also provided to local high school students who have learning and emotional disabilities. The primary focus of these services is to assist students to obtain and retain part-time or full-time employment in the community. Referrals for these services are made through DES-RSA and DED-DDD.

  Sheltered Employment Services
Consumers have the opportunity to work on paid contract work and participate in a facility based and/or community work environment which focuses on productivity and appropriate work behaviors.
  Transition Services

Transition Services are offered to school age young adults and are intended to supplement their education by creating an individualized outcome oriented plan. This plan promotes movement from school settings to post-school activities including post-secondary education at local colleges or trade schools, specific vocational training, integrated employment, independent living and community participation.

This program incorporates classroom instruction focused on areas such as job preparation skills, career exploration and guidance, job shadowing experiences, transportation training, and independent living skills.

  Job Development and Placement Services
Assist individuals in selecting, obtaining and retaining part and full-time employment in a community work setting. AZTEC may provide time limited or ongoing Job Coaching, to assist in the integration of individuals into community business settings and to aid in fostering employee/employer relationships. Natural supports may also be provided by the employer to facilitate integration.
