It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of AZTEC's founder and Executive Director/President of over 40 years, Dr. Vince Scott.  He passed away on May 17, 2020.

Dr. Scott fulfilled many roles over his life, most notably as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Professionally he started out as an educator and counselor and transitioned into a lifelong career advocating for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  Dr. Scott was a pioneer and devoted advocate in the initial movement to depopulate the institutions for developmentally disabled children and adults.  His vision and philosophical values guided his work in South Dakota, Nebraska and ultimately Arizona.

His unwavering commitment and tireless efforts to better the lives of the disabled have had a profound impact on those that have known and worked with him and will continue to be the guiding light for AZTEC in the years to come.

It will be the priority of AZTEC and the Board of Directors to maintain the standard that Dr. Scott built which is continuing to provide exceptional services to the members and families we support.

Dr. Scott's vision for AZTEC will be continued by his son, Vince Ohling-Scott, AZTEC's CEO, and Vice President, Donna Ohling.
